Beginning Bread Baking DEMONSTRATION-Comes with a free STARTER KIT you can pick up at the library!
Bake for Good with King Arthur Bread: In this program, bakers to learn to make yeast bread from scratch and share their baked goods as an act of kindness. They discover that combining math, science, reading, and baking know-how, adds up to delicious bread!
This program is perfect for tweens and teens, and we're opening it up to any beginning baker who would like to participate!
Participants will receive a Mini Baking Kit, compliments of King Arthur Flour, which includes:
- a BFG recipe booklet,
- Red Star Yeast,
- a KABC dough scraper,
- a bread donation bag, and twist tie, and
- two coupons for $1 off bags of King Arthur Flour.
With new baking skills and support from you, your young baker will bake this recipe at home. (Note to help plan your baking at home: this recipe takes about 3½ hours!)
After baking, bakers will share half of their baked goods (one loaf or cinnamon rolls or pizza or dinner rolls or ...), as an act of kindness. Bakers keep the rest of their delicious baked goods to enjoy!
Reminder, this class is a DEMONSTRATION only, you will not be baking along with the instructor.
Registered participants will receive a Zoom link to join the program and information about picking up a mini kit.
Flour: This recipe uses 2 kinds of flour.
- All Purpose Flour OR Bread Flour
AND
- White Whole Wheat Flour OR Traditional Whole Wheat Flour
