Climate Café with Energize Acton: A Celebration of Plant-Based Foods! Cookbook Club & Potluck Picni
Wednesday, August 95:00—6:00 PMNara Park25 Ledge Rock Way, Acton, MA, 01720
The Climate Café is a fun and informal gathering where Acton residents can discuss a fossil fuel free future. The idea is to provide a forum where people who have experience in certain areas can share their insights and where folks looking to make changes can ask questions about the process. Each week will be a different focus, with a range of technical and environmental topics.
Eating more plant-based food is an immediate and DELICOUS way to put less CO2 into the atmosphere. Please join us at this fun potluck picnic to celebrate plant-based meals. We are not saying that people should give up all meat; rather, we are saying that vegetable dishes are downright yummy (and also good for the environment!). In that spirit, we are offering two cookbook options to inspire your kitchen time. At the reference desk in the Acton Memorial Library, choose a recipe from British chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittinstall’s book, River Cottage VEG. Or, at Kitchen Outfitters, think about purchasing the wonderful local farm’s effort, The Gaining Ground Table, and trying one of their plant-based recipes. Yes, the latter does have meat recipes, but the salad and vegetable dishes are mouth-watering! Best of all, if you already have inspiring vegetarian or vegan recipes in your home repertoire, please bring one of your favorites. Besides your food contribution, please bring two copies of the recipe to the NARA Park Pavilion. We will also have stations at the picnic with local farm info, ideas for minimizing food waste, an intro to composting, and a tempeh cooking demo. If you are in the area on August 9th, please join us for this special celebration!
