APRIL 4 PROGRAM : India and the Story of Blue (An interesting story. For a change, you'll love the 'Blues'!) – By Vineet Kumar

Blue is a beautiful color, and it is tough to imagine a world where blue suddenly went missing. And yet, for 1000’s of years, humans would look at blue colors in nature and not be able to replicate that at all.

When ancient Romans discovered that one country in the world could produce this magical color, it soon became a luxury item worth its weight in gold. India became the magical destination that traders from all over the world flocked to get a piece of the action.

When Britishers ruled India, they discovered that “India’s Blue” was a trading commodity that was a literal gold mine. It is believed that the desire to control this tremendous economic asset contributed to the delays in the British granting independence to India.
