Learn to extend the life of your clothes by simple mending techniques with Deepika Prakash, founder of PatternReview.com - an online sewing community. Deepika's mission is to empower her community by teaching valuable sewing skills that contribute to sustainable practices. Some knowledge of using a sewing machine may be required but not always necessary. For each workshop there will be a list of recommended materials for participants to bring, as well as what will be provided in class. The workshop will have limited seats so we can learn effectively.

The Sargent Memorial Library in Boxborough will be hosting the December session of Repair & Renew on Wednesday, December 4 at 4-6 PM.  Participants will make a patchwork coaster or a mug rug. Sign up on Boxborough's event calendar.

For November's workshop Sew a Tote Bag!

Join us for a fun and creative upcycling project where we'll transform button-down shirts into stylish, reusable tote bags! In this workshop, you'll learn how to sew straight lines, French seams, and create your very own unique tote. Perfect for bringing along to the farmers' market, a shopping trip to TJ Maxx, or even as a thoughtful, handmade gift.

Skill Level – Beginner. Knowledge of using a sewing machine is required in this workshop.

What to bring

1. Your sewing machine

2. A shirt to upcycle (look at denim or linen shirts which are slightly thicker but any shirt will do)

3. Basic sewing supplies

We will provide:

- Fabric if you don't have it.

- Thread

- Iron and ironing board

- Some sewing supplies and machine needles if you don't have them handy.
