May 9 program: Sher Khan in the Super Bowl? Indian Tiger at work and play, By Roopesh Mathur

   What is the undistinguished similarity between the Cincinnati Bengals, who made it to Super Bowl 2022, and Shere Khan is, a movie villain hunting the boy who must live in the Jungle Book? From Tony the Tiger on cereal boxes to Hobbes the beloved stuffed tiger in “Calvin and Hobbes,” to the Tiger King series on Netflix, the Tiger () has long been a fixture in American culture and commerce. One of the great charismatic megafaunas globally, Panthera Tigris Tigris is an object of fascination for its power, agility, and grace.

The United States is home to almost 1000 tigers in captivity in zoos and sanctuaries. But in their original home ranges in Asia, they are threatened by habitat loss, poachers, and fragmentation of territories. The one major success story in India, where a concerted effort has been made to protect and increase the tiger population. It is also the one place in the world where you can easily visit and see a tiger in the wild. Come find out all about the Indian Tiger at work and play!

We at IAGB are very excited to bring Discover India series to the library patrons- To excite and ignite the community and bring awareness in an engaging manner."

IAGB has collaborated with Shishu Bharati (A Indian Languages & Cultural School) to present the Discover India series with Acton Memorial Library and Burlington Library.

These programs are suitable for middle schoolers, teens and adults.
