May 2 PROGRAM: Taking Back the Paisley (Hail to the "buta"): A conversation and learning to draw a basic Paisley pattern. (No skills needed, just some paper and pencils.) – By Vineet Kumar

Today, if you show a picture of paisley to someone, most people will immediately recognize it and say, “That’s a great Paisley pattern.”

And yet 200 years ago, if you showed this picture to everybody, you would have heard a different response, “That is the stunning “buta” pattern from Northern India.”

For 200 years, the history behind this pattern has been forgotten, and most people look to Scotland as the source of this iconic shape.

Come by and listen to the story behind the Paisley.

Bonus: Inviting all “kids” between the ages of 9 to 99 to join the conversation, and at the end, you will get to learn the basics of drawing the Paisley pattern – a great chance to attend with your grandma or grandkid and bond across generations. This is a simple art that all ages can enjoy doing together. No skills needed – only bring your enthusiasm and some paper and pencils.

Attend as many programs from the series as you can! Mondays at 7pm!
