Living History: Thoreau reads "Autumnal Tints" and takes questions

Henry David Thoreau loved autumn, and in his essay "Autumnal Tints" he expressed why he considered it the most beautiful time of the year, saying, "October is the month of painted leaves".

Step back in time to 1860 and celebrate the season at the Acton Memorial Library with Mr. Thoreau himself! Join Historian Richard Smith (as Thoreau) as he reads selections from the essay "Autumnal Tints." After the reading there will be a question and answer session with Mr. Thoreau as he discusses life in 19th Century Concord.

This Living History program is FREE and open to the public; it is appropriate for all ages. Registration is required, and opens October 1.

This program will take place on the library lawn, please dress comfortably for the weather. Feel free to bring seating, if you would like.

In case of precipitation, the program will be postponed to the following Saturday, Nov. 13 at 10:30.  In case of precipitation on the 13th, this program will move to Zoom.
